It’s summer time and DCCC field programs are underway. In order to
continue to build the organizations that are necessary for victory in
2010, it’s now time to get ready and train on the best method of
contacting voters. Door to door canvassing.
Have you ever led a canvass before? How many doors were in walk packets
you created? How many doors per hour did your canvassers knock? How
did you hold your team accountable for accomplishing the goals necessary
Building strong field operations across the country is crucial in 2010
and the DCCC is searching for Canvass Directors to hire, train and
manage a team of canvassers in our efforts to win in 2010.
We will be hosting the Canvass Director training on Saturday, July 24th,
2010 at the DNC Headquarters in Washington, DC. This training is for
applicants who are ready to lead a field program in its entirety. If you
are interested in participating, you must complete the application www.dccc.org/canvassdirector
by Friday July 9th, 2010 or you will not be considered for admission.
The training will cover:
- Building and Managing a Team
- Training & Reporting
- Cutting Turf and Making Effective Walk Packets
- Developing Leadership
- Executing Payroll
Canvass Directors are responsible for creating, implementing and
executing a canvass plan. The Canvass Director is responsible for
managing their team of canvass leads and canvassers to execute the voter
contact strategy to win. In addition, Canvass Directors are responsible
for ensuring that data is utilized properly; including cutting walk
lists, recording results, creating proper survey questions, using
advance targeting methods, etc.
Canvass Directors must have strong leadership skills and the ability to
manage a large staff. They are responsible for coaching canvass leads
and canvassers to tdo their work effectively and holding them
accountable to reporting their results daily. Applicants should have at
least one cycle of field experience working on a political campaign.
