*AFL-CIO Deputy Political Director Julie Greene* will answer questions from

*Julie Greene* is the Deputy Political Director at the American Federation
of Labor and Congress of Industrialized Organizations (AFL-CIO), a
Federation of 56 unions representing more than 12 million working men and
women. In this role, Julie helps oversee the Federation’s strategic
planning with regards to its political program.
Since joining the AFL-CIO in 2007, Julie has managed the development and
implementation of the Federation’s strategic member communications program
to millions of union members nationwide. Her efforts have kept the
Federation’s member communication on the cutting edge of political
communication through the creation and expansion of data-driven best
practices. As a result of her work during the 2008 presidential cycle,
Julie was named one of Campaigns’ & Election’s *Politics *Magazine’s
"Rising Star’s” of 2009.
Julie Greene has worked in progressive politics for over 10 years. With a
background in local grassroots campaigns, Julie has spent a dedicated
amount of time in the field managing and directing campaigns for local and
statewide candidates, organizations and ballot initiatives.
When not in the office, Julie serves as an original Founder and Program
Director for Next Step, a non-profit bipartisan professional development
program geared towards young women aged 23-27 with 2-4 years of work
experience and a passion for politics. Next Step provides practical,
hands-on training aimed at developing professional confidence and
fostering the advancement of the next generation of women political
