Speaker:Derry Derringer, Principal, Deringer Consulting

Derry Deringer, CPCC, is owner and principal at Deringer Consulting, LLC. Deringer Consulting provides career development and job search coaching to professionals and students interested in international development. Derry draws from eighteen years of experience with nonprofit, business and intergovernmental organizations.

From 2006 through 2011, Derry served as a director and manager of corporate and foundation relations and major gifts for the World Food Program USA (WFP USA), a Washington-based nonprofit that supports the UN World Food Program (WFP) and other hunger relief organizations. In 2011, under Derry’s tenure, WFP USA received $40 million from US corporate, foundation, individual and organization contributions.

Prior to WFP USA, Derry was a consultant in Rome, Italy at the UN World Food Program, and supported its flagship safety net program, Food for Education. His key function was managing a volunteer field-training program of a global public-private partnership between WFP and TNT, a global logistics and express delivery service company based in the Netherlands. He also facilitated two-day strategic planning retreats for the Food for Education and HIV-AIDs program units.

In 2005, Derry obtained certification as a professional coach through The Coaches Training Institute. He is experienced in coaching individuals and small groups on job search, career transitions, job skills, management, and fundraising. Derry also teaches nonprofit fundraising as an adjunct professor at The Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University. He holds a B.A. in Managerial Economics from Hampden-Sydney College.
