The Politics Online Conference sits at the intersection of smart politics, good governance, transparent democracy, and innovative technology, spotlighting tools, applications, strategies, and ideas that affect a range of functions, from writing policy to organizing democratic movements to running a smarter political campaign to building dialogue with your constituents.

People come to the Politics Online Conference to learn about cutting-edge trends and to gain access to the visionaries who make those trends possible. They come to find solutions. They come to discuss their ideas with other experts in the field and outside the Beltway. And they come to network.

Some of this year's highlights include:

  1. Elected and Connected panel on Tuesday, April 21 at 8:30 a.m. with Senator Claire McCaskill, Rep. John Culberson, Rep. Steve Israel, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rogers, and Rep. Tim Ryan.

  2. Secretary of State Debra Bowen (California) and Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner (Ohio) talking about Governance 2.0: How Secretaries of State are streamlining services in a Web 2.0 world on Monday, April 20 at 8:30 a.m.

  3. Meeting the artist Sam Yates, creator of The Color of Palo Alto, catching up with Josh Klein -- hacker, author, and the mind behind a vending machine to train crows, and geeking out with MIT Media Lab's Judith Donath.

  4. Joe Rospars, the New Media Director for Obama, and Michael Palmer, the eCampaign Director for McCain, going head-to-hear, interviewing each other about their experiences on the campaign trail and how they accomplished everything they did.

  5. 35 breakout panels created and voted on by the public.

  6. A screening of the documentary Us Now about the power of mass collaboration, the Internet, and governance.
