Democratic GAIN Career Fairs are the best place to find top political talent for current or future job openings.

Political professionals from all experience levels and backgrounds will be attending GAIN’s Career Fair. We typically attract 400-500 participants. Job seekers will be broken into two sessions to better allow you to meet and converse with all interested applicants. Lunch will be provided for employers.

Democratic GAIN is also hosting a Networking Happy Hour on Thursday, January 21st from 6:00-8:00pm at SEIU.

We are offering a number of sponsorship opportunities for the Career Fair and our Networking Happy Hour. Sponsoring helps publicize your organization and supports GAIN’s mission to assist political professionals from cycle to cycle.



FAQ

What is expected of my company/organization?

The Career Fair opens at 9:00am so that employers have time to set up their table and get the lay of the land before the jobseekers arrive at 10:00am. Job seekers have timed entrances into the Career Fair where they will walk around, talking to the organizations and companies that they are interested in. We ask that each employer have at least one and preferably two staff members present for the day. We suggest that employers send up shifts since it can be a tiring day.

We aren’t currently hiring, why should we attend?

Many of the job seekers who attend our Career Fair are young and new to politics. The Career Fair presents a great opportunity for them not only to learn about current job openings but also to learn about different types of organizations, careers, and to meet people who can offer much needed advice. For your organization, it is a great way to meet talented operatives who can fill future positions and promote your work.

How many people do you expect to attend? What kind of experience?

Democratic GAIN’s past Career Fairs have attracted between 300 and 500 job seekers of varying degrees of experience. Most are entry-to-mid level but, given the economic circumstances and ramp-up to 2010, we expect a good number of seasoned staff as well.

Is there food?

Democratic GAIN will provide lunch for employers. That’s why it’s important that we know exactly how many people will be attending from your organization/company.

Is there internet access?

We understand that the Career Fair is a day away from your office and your important work. We are working with the NEA to provide wireless internet in the Career Fair room so that you will be able to check your email throughout the day.

Will there be a place for my banner?

Every organization can make their table their own. For organizations at the Presidential or Federal sponsorship level, logos and organizational descriptions will be displayed on a projection screen in the main room.

What time is registration and what is the schedule for the day?

Registration for employers begins at 9:00am on January 22nd. We urge you to arrive on time so that you are able to set up your table with signage and information. Registration for job seekers in the first round begins at 9:30 and the doors will open to the Career Fair at 10:00am. There will then be a one-hour break for employers. Registration for job seekers in the second round begins at 12:30pm and the doors will again open to the Career Fair at 1:00pm. The Career Fair will conclude at 3:00pm.
