DELEGATES, VOLUNTEERS AND ACTIVISTS PARTICIPATE IN LARGEST CONVENTION TRAINING IN PARTY HISTORY

Washington, DC – Democratic GAIN, the professional association for Democratic and Progressive political professionals, completed an unprecedented weeklong series of trainings and issues seminars at this year’s Democratic National Convention in Boston.
This was the largest training in the history of the Convention with over 4,500 participants and over 150 unique training and issues sessions. Among the participants were over 2,000 young people who participated in the Youth Training Saturday July 24th and Sunday July 25th at the Hynes Convention Center .
In an effort to continue giving access to the political process to as many people as possible, Democratic GAIN also sponsored "GAIN Boston Express" buses with trainees traveling from West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Washington DC, Kentucky, and as far away as Georgia.
"The turnout for our trainings was amazing. Seeing this many people willing to take time out of their week to learn how to be better campaigners really shows just how motivated the Democratic and progressive community is," said Simone L. Ward, Executive Director of Democratic GAIN. "Democrats and progressives know how high the stakes are in this election and we can't afford to waste a minute or miss a chance to recruit and train a new campaign worker."
Democratic GAIN's Boston 2004 trainings were like basic training boot camp meets old fashioned revival meeting. Training participants learned everything from Campaign 101 to seminars on advances in campaign technologies.
Featured speakers and trainers included Rep. Elijah Cummings, DNC Chairman Terry McAuliffe, Donna Brazile, Gov. Howard Dean, Secretary Regena Thomas, Carl Pope, James Carville, Robert Kennedy Jr., Ann Lewis, Stan Greenberg, Kate Michelman, David Brock, Arianna Huffington, Ralph Neas, Joe Trippi, and many more.
GAIN attendees are not learning these skills in vain. Training participants will now have the opportunity to use their new found skills on campaigns across the country via the Democratic GAIN career center and online job bank.
