I cannot tell a lie, the training was pretty awesome

Happy Monday everyone -

Just a quick note to tell you, if you missed Saturday's Keep It Going Training, you kinda missed out. 

We had over 90 people there all day on a Saturday in August to learn how to WORK HARDER for the candidates and causes in which they believe.  Pretty incredible!

The presenters and speakers were all on their A-game, and everyone seemed really pleased with the day.

I just want to thank everyone who was involved in the success - Saturday was a team effort! 

I know whoever takes over as ED will be as committed to continuing to bring great training and skills-building opportunities to our members as I have been, so fear not if you missed'll have more chances.

Hi everyone -

It's your Executive Director, Nikki, here.  I just wanted to take a moment and let you know that if you checked our Job Board today, and noticed the announcement for "Executive Director, Democratic GAIN" you read it correctly.

After 18 months at this amazing organization, I have decided it is time to pass the reins onto someone new. 

I cannot tell you how much I have enjoyed my time here, and I am so proud of all our accomplishments!  From a new website to a new Board, I hope my time at the helm is something our members can look back upon with pride. 

I'm not leaving immediately.  I will be involved in hiring and then training my replacement, while continuing to run the day-to-day operations and events.  So, you're stuck with me for a few more weeks anyway. 

I would like to thank from the bottom of my heart everyone who has made my time here so enjoyable and successful, with a special thank you to Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, Terry Lierman, Amy Pritchard, Seth Tanner, Shayna Englin, Stephen Davis, Darcy Anton, Vin Gopal, Ed McCall, Robert Foley and Blair Mathias.  Not to mention our amazing Board of Directors, Advisory Board and everyone who has helped with events, mentoring and guiding me and this organization for the past year and a half! 

Rest assured that whoever the Board brings on as the next Executive Director, they will have the same energy, passion for our mission, and desire to serve our members as I have had.

EMILY's List Campaign Job Fair

Many campaigns are currently looking for finance staff.  EMILY's List is working with senatorial, congressional, and gubernatorial races as well as down ballot and state legislative campaigns across the country to find them qualified staff just like you. If you have finance experience and are looking for a finance role on a campaign, this is the event for you!

EMILY's List finance trackers and Job Bank staff will be available to discuss opportunities with folks looking to do finance on campaigns on Monday, August 31st, 2009 from 10:00 AM- 3:00 PM. Find the details and how to RSVP below!

I thought I'd just give a quick update from Pittsburgh.  We at GAIN arrived yesterday and had a great time at the sessions and meeting interesting and engaged people from all over the country.

New Membership Structure!

You Spoke, We Listened!
One thing that we've heard from our members throughout the years is that our membership structure can be confusing.  One of the first actions our new board of directors took in their first meeting last July was to correct this.
We're very pleased to announce our new membership structure which is active as of today!
We now offer just one individual membership level that will cost $35 annually.  For this, individual members will continue to get the same great member benefits, including access to our job board, ability to post resumes, discounts to GAIN events, and much more. 
If you are already a GAIN member, then these changes will affect you the next time your membership expires.  If you're not already a dues paying GAIN member, this is a great opportunity for you to get an individual membership and all that comes with it at this new price.  Log in then check your membership status today to know when this will affect you, and then join if you haven't already.
We've simplified our structure to three membership levels for organizations.  The major difference between the levels is the amount job posts you are able to post to our job board:
  • Bronze members: 1 post per month for $100 annually
  • Silver Members: 5 posts per month for $500 annually
  • Gold members: 12 posts per month for $1000 annually

Remember that all organizational members get full access to proactively search our valuable Resume Database, plus get discounts to GAIN events and member discounts

Only organizational members will now be able to post jobs to our job board.  You can no longer purchase job posting credits separately.  If you currently have an unexpired job credit, then you've automatically been upgraded to a bronze membership for 3 months from today. 

Like individual memberships above, current members will not need to renew their membership until it the next time it expires.  Log in and then check your membership status today to know when these changes will affect you.

GAIN Users

You can continue participate with GAIN as a non-dues-paying registered user.  As before, this allows you to maintain a profile, keep a resume on file, stay updated with GAIN through our email newsletter, as well as access the Job Board and apply to postings.  But, you are not able to take advantage of the discounts to goods, services, trainings and events that dues-paying members of GAIN get - not to mention, you will not be fully participating in your professional association.   

GAIN membership brings a wealth of benefits for both individuals and organizations.  We're committed to continuing these great benefits and adding more in the coming months.  Please leave us a comment below or contact us if you have questions.
