Democratic GAIN is proud to present Mike Rice of VR Research for a Training Seminar on:
The Art of Research: How to Do It and How to Use It!

In this 3 hour seminar, Mike will cover:
  • Basics of a career in research and what that means
  • A researcher’s role on a campaign and how to work with your Campaign Manager or Project Director (and how a C.M./P.D. best utilizes a researcher)
  • Research’s role in various levels of campaigns – from local to presidential
  • Brief overview of conducting a research project and what the end result should look like
This training is for individuals at all levels who wish to learn more about research - both those looking to research as a career specialty, and for campaign managers and other professionals who want to learn how to best use a research professional on their team.

This seminar is $25 for non-dues-paying members and FREE for paid members!  Membership starts at just $25, so you may as well join before registering!

Mike Rice is the President of VR Research.  In that role, Mike oversees all day-to-day operations of the firm in all of its business lines.  In this capacity he works directly with clients to frame questions and design research methods that get results.

Mike has written about the applications of and conducted trainings on the subject of getting the most out of the public records research.  Mike's work has been published in the Handbook of Political Marketing (Sage Publications, 1999).

Mike specializes in using the federal Freedom of Information Act and state public records laws to develop direct and indirect knowledge for our clients.

Mike has spent his entire career in public records research.  Prior to co-founding VR Research, Mike worked as a consultant conducting research and rapid response operations for corporate and political clients around the country.  Mike also managed the research department for both the California Democratic Party and 1994 California gubernatorial nominee, Kathleen Brown.
